Move Fitness
Support
A Supported Pathway into Movement and Exercise.
MOVE PROVIDES INCLUSIVE FITNESS SUPPORT.
Move provides inclusive fitness support for people who may benefit from additional guidance, encouragement or assistance within a gym environment.
Sessions are shaped around the individual, including their goals, preferences, communication style and level of confidence. The focus is on meaningful participation.
Build Confidence through movement
Exercise can support more than physical fitness.
A structured fitness environment may help people practise routines, develop confidence, engage with others and become more comfortable participating in community activities.
Depending on the individual, sessions may include:
Familiarisation with gym equipment
Basic strength and movement activities
Coordination and balance exercises
Supported participation in a fitness routine
Confidence entering and using a gym
Encouragement towards personal activity goals
Working alongside a support person where appropriate
Support Built Around the Person
We understand that different people communicate, participate and progress in different ways.
Before beginning, we’ll discuss:
- The participant’s goals
- Their interests and preferred activities
- Communication and sensory considerations
- The support they may require
- Relevant safety information
- Whether a support worker or family member will attend
Sessions are adjusted to create a more predictable, respectful and encouraging experience.
Important NDIS funding information
NDIS funding depends on the participant’s approved plan, goals and support categories. Personal training and gym memberships aren’t funded as therapy supports. Participants, nominees and support coordinators should confirm whether a proposed service is an appropriate use of their individual funding before booking. Learn More.
Shred Shed doesn’t represent fitness support as clinical therapy or exercise physiology unless delivered by an appropriately qualified allied health professional.
Every Step Is Progress
Movement doesn’t need to look the same for everyone.
For one person, progress may be completing a new exercise. For another, it may be entering the gym with greater confidence or participating more independently.
